I swear last time I posted images of this size they didn't look nearly as bad. Am I crazy or are other people experiences this as well?
(Above photo used copy/paste trick. no difference. Below photo externally hosted. No difference.)

Mine didn't take long to upload, but unlike yours, which remained clear and crisp, kinja made my shots look like I took them with my ipod touch.

I suggest you start resizing your photos to 640x360. I've never had a problem with my massive concept car posts. I have a very poor eyesight, so I can't judge the quality of your main photo. Cheers! :)

I tried that. I even tried hosting on imgur and posting. After shared it still looks like sheet.

Yup. I filter them from my Flickr page or FB page first. The few times I've tried to upload straight to here recently have resorted to sending Kinja/Tiger into a tailspin.

I have no idea then

did you make a post today?

I looked at your most recent post. The photos seem great, but on my computer from kinja they look like absolute shit quality wise.

They are. Copied from facebook. Compressed a lot there and I'm sure more here.

Its actually 636px now. Resizing photos to deal with kinja is a considerable PITA

Okay. On your computer do the photos I posted look crisp or do they look bad? I'm trying to figure out if its just my computer or not. I swear previously they were much better looking.

They're not horrendous, if that's what you're asking. I can see that you used a rather wide open shutter. The front end of the VW is in focus and DoF is rather narrow. Perhaps it's the way your monitor views this site? Also, the original loaded size as compared to the expanded size may play a role. I notice that photo of the red Grand Am I posted looks much worse on the main page and quite a bit better expanded.
FWIW — Here's the leadoff photo from my post as seen @ 1600px res on Flickr:

Looks like they quietly narrowed the main photos again (it used to be 960 wide). Well, have you tried using the processor in Photoshop? You can set it to resize every photo in a folder to a specific dimensions. That's how I resize all my photos within seconds.

They're 636px wide now, down from 640 in the last version of Kinja. Why the small change, I don't know. 960 was a few iterations ago, either right before or part of the first Kinja introduction.

Oh ah. Thank you for clearing that up.

There are a few different things at work here. Can you link me to an externally hosted version of the above image that retains the correct clarity?

Hey Noah, never heard back from you here. Are you still having this issue?
